Penshurst Place

The Client

Penshurst Place Estate near Tonbridge is a popular tourist destination. The Manor House, once the property of King Henry VIII, has been home to the Sidney family since 1552. The current occupant is Viscount De L’Isle MBE, Lord Lieutenant of Kent.

Run on a commercial basis, the Estate offers attractions to a wide range of visitors, from history buffs to gardening enthusiasts, from wedding parties to conferences and exhibitions.  The excellent facilities of the Porcupine Pantry and the well-stocked Gift Shop, for example, are enjoyed all year around.

The Service

Doing the right thing

Creaseys has advised the Sidney family since the 1930s. The practice has been an integral part of the evolution of the Estate from being substantially agricultural to today’s diversified business, with its many departments.

As well as providing professional input to help ensure the successful running of the organisation, Creaseys supplies a range of accounting and tax services to the family.

The Partnership

Estate manager Ben Thomas said that each generation faces new challenges. “Life is a marathon, not a sprint. It has been vital to take good and timely advice from Creaseys when making important decisions,” he said.

Head of accounts Sarah Chatten added: “It is a responsive, supportive service. We are able to speak to the Creaseys team on a day-to-day basis if required. Whether the query is tax, accounting, payroll or whatever, we can rely on receiving first class support in a timely manner.”
